A professional development workshop for high school guidance counselors, math teachers, and science teachers.

Sound familiar? We know you want to motivate your students to excel academically and to pursue exciting careers. What better way to provide such incentive than to introduce them to an exciting field that opens a world of opportunity – engineering!

Join us for High Heels – High Tech as we walk into the world of engineering! You will experience engineering first hand and learn about the exciting opportunities in engineering. The workshop will pay particular attention to the great need for women in the field of engineering and you will hear from female engineers and engineering students! Participants earn 7 CEUs.

Did you know?

  • Women control 80% of family purchase decisions, yet only 10% of working engineers are women.
  • A degree in engineering opens the doors to careers in medicine, law, and business in addition to engineering-related jobs.
  • On average nationwide, women earn only 20% of BS degrees in engineering, 17% of MS degrees, and 12% of Ph.D. degrees.
  • Not even he Texas Distinguished Curriculum prepares students for college engineering!
