ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The theme of the 2004 NSF Design, Service and Manufacturing Grantees and Research Conference is Putting Face On The Future: Engineering Emerges From The Lab. Our goal is to provide, through the Conference, an environment that fosters connections, information exchange, and teaming across many sectors to create new relationships between academe, industry, and government that can address emerging needs resulting from population growth, extremist actions and terrorism, an increasing need to protect the environment, and the need to provide a strong and growing economy. A particular focus will be on partnerships between academe and industry where one of the partners resides in an EPSCoR state. Another focus will be on partnerships between academic researchers and government laboratories that can make available unique research facilities for frontier research. The Conference agenda will include sessions on partnering across the various sectors, covering issues such as intellectual property rights, information exchange, and shared facilities.
