• Dr. Ioppolo will give a seminar presentation "Whispering Gallery Mode-Based Micro-Optical Sensors for Aerospace Applications" as part of the SMU Mechanical Engineering Seminar Series, on Friday April 18, 2008.  The seminar will be held in Huitt-Zollars Pavilion, Embrey Engr. Building between 3.00-4.00 pm, and will be followed by the end of year reception for graduate students and their faculty advisors.


  • Micro-Sensor Laboratory has recently received a grant of $331,000 from the National Science Foundation to continue work on the WGM-based micro-optical wall shear stress sensor.

        


  • Tindaro Ioppolo received his PhD degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering on February 14th of 2008.  Dr. Tindaro will continue working in Microsensor Research Lab as a postdoctoral fellow.

 


 

  • Microsensor Laboratory is moving from Polytechnic University, New York.  The laboratory will now be located in Southern Methodist University, Dallas.  The Lab will be functional in its new location starting March 1st of 2008.

        

 


 

  • Ulas Kemal Ayaz joined to the Micro-Sensor Lab on Jan 2007.  Ulas graduated from Bogazici University, Master of Physics program.  He was previously working in Microphotonics Research Laboratory.


  • A new NSF grant was awarded to develop a WGM Based wall shear stress Sensor for turbulent fluid mechanics research in September 2006, (CBET - 0619193)
