FOUR Graduate Students Fellowships
are available in the area of Laser Materials Processing at SMU, Dallas, TX

The Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Research Center for Advanced Manufacturing at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX are announcing the availability of four graduate fellowships in the area of Laser Materials Processing. More information on Laser Materials Processing at SMU is available at www.engr.smu.edu/rcam and www.engr.smu.edu/clam .These fellowships are provided by the U.S. Department of Education under the Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) Program.

The selection criteria are:

  • the candidates are currently enrolled or accepted for the Ph.D. Program at Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Materials Science accredited programs
  • are of superior ability
  • are US citizens or permanent residents

The GAANN program provides $42,224 per candidate of which $30,000 per year is provisioned for stipend and the rest ($12,224) to be applied along with a 25% cost share of the federal amount from the university side, which will be used to cover tuition, registration fees and the other costs related to the research expenses.

The fellowships are available from August of 2006.
