Study Hints for Exams

Read the book - more than once.  Most of the exams are based on the text.  Use the study sections at the end of the chapters and on-line at the website for the textbook.

Read the book before the lecture on the topic.

Read the on-line readings before the lecture.  Print out a copy to study with.

Come to class and take notes.

For the first exam, review everything since day one at least once a week.  Then, at least once a week week review all your notes since the last exam.  This way the oldest material will have been reviewed the most and be more familiar to you.

If you miss a day, get notes from someone else or come by during office hours.  Some materials are presented only in class.

If you don't understand something, ask questions in class or in private during office hours.

Read the exam questions carefully.  If you don't understand a question, ask!
