SIX SIGMA FOR SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

Catalog Description:

Methods and tools for the application of Six Sigma concepts as a part of the systems-engineering design process for developing quality products. Topics: assessing the “predicted quality” of a product through requirements analysis, development a quantitative process based on engineering best practices, and its application to trade studies, model development, and operations analysis.

Goals:

The goal of the course is to provide students with an introduction to the prediction of system performance in the presence of uncertainty and the processes and tools that can enable its execution. This includes the investigation and discussion of established concepts of how to extract the customer needs, develop requirements and assess the risk of non-compliance in production and user environments.
