Distinguished Alumni Symposium - Dr. William M. Lively

William McCain Lively III (Mac) received a PhD from SMU in Computer Science and electrical engineering in 1971. From 1968 to 1972 Mac worked on supercomputer and antisubmarine warfare projects for Texas Instruments. Since 1972, Dr. Lively has been on the faculty at Texas A&M University in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Professor Lively is the Director of the Laboratory for Software Research. Presently he is a Co-PI on the IBM Shared Software Infrastructure Project which provides assistance to Universities in developing Project Courses with IBM and Open Source tools. For the last ten years, he has been a faculty mentor for the Corps at A&M. Dr. Lively is a PE in Texas, registered as a Software Engineer. Also, he is a member of ACM, IEEE and a co-founder of the Institute for Software Engineers (ISE).
