Host name: name of the any of the general use unix machines such
as apoc, neo, tank, sal; if you are located off campus, follow the
name of the machine by '.engr.smu.edu'
User name: engineering user name
Password: engineering password
If you are using a remote directory other than your personal directory,
for example a course web site, you may need to set up the
local and remote directories.
Note: the session may be saved by clicking the 'Save' button, and
then later retrieved by clicking 'Stored sessions' under 'Sessions'
menu on the right hand side.
Click 'Login' button
If you see the warning dialog box, click Yes.
Note that you may be prompted for the password second time; in that
case enter it the password again.
Once logged in you will see your home directory.
Uploading and Downloading
The left part of the screen is the local machine. The right part of the
screen is remote host. For personal web pages the folder is public_html,
and for other pages the remote directory will be provided.
To upload file to the remote host:
Click on the file in the local directory and drag it to the right.
To download file to the local machine:
C lick on the file in the remote directory and drag it to the local directory
on the left.
To create a local directory:
C lick anywhere in the local directory to select it and click 'F7 Create
Directory' button at the bottom of the screen or press the F7 key.
To create a remote directory:
Click anywhere in the remote directory to select it and click 'F7 Create
Directory' at the bottom of the screen or press the F7 key.
To change permissions:
For personal web pages and sites maintained by a single user, the default
permissions settings of winSCP should be fine.
For sites maintained by groups, permission changes need to be made, click

Setting Up Local and Remote Directories
When creating a new login profile, click on the Environment navigation
item on the right. Enter the following information:
Remote directory: the location of the directory on the server, such
as ' /users/seasadm/webmastr/htdocs/ee/8370'. This directory will be
provided for you.
Local directory: the location of the directory on your machine, such
as 'C:\Documents and Settings\'
