School of Engineering Loaner Equipment Policy (Draft)
Notebooks, tablet PCs, desktop computers and portable projectors are available for check out from the Engineering Help Desk according to the following guidelines:
Loaner equipment will only be checked out to Engineering staff and faculty - no equipment will be checked out to students.
Equipment is to be picked up and returned to the Engineering Help Desk.
Paperwork is to be filled out accepting financial responsibility for the equipment.
Equipment is to be returned in working order and undamaged at the pre‑arranged time listed on the check-out agreement.
The maximum check-out period of time is managed by device type as follows, with limited exceptions:
Notebook computer – 2 weeks
Tablet PC – 2 weeks
Desktop PC – indefinite
Portable projector – 2 weeks.
The suitability or stability of loaner equipment is not guaranteed.
While all equipment is checked in advance, it is recommended that the person checking out the equipment test it before use. Should a problem arise, the equipment may be exchanged, subject to availability, for different equipment, provided the exchange is managed through the Engineering Help Desk.
Delivery or set-up option for loaner equipment is not provided. Advance training for equipment use is available and must be scheduled through the Engineering Help Desk.
