| On December 14, 2005, Texas Instruments
Incorporated and the Jack Kilby Family announced two major gifts creating
the Historic TI Archives and the Jack St. Clair Kilby Archives at
SMU. |
|
| Included in these two valuable collections
are some of the richest history in technology and engineering to be
found in the world. Among the incredible treasures is the first integrated
circuit, the first commercial transistor, the first electronic calculator,
first single chip microprocessor, early digital watches, early cell
phone technologies and an extensive array of geotechnical and DoD
technologies. |
 |
 |
SMU is honored to have
been selected to house these priceless historical collections, and
we are grateful for the trust that TI and the Kilby family have
placed in the University.
Please note that in 2008, the SMU School of Engineering, together
with the DeGolyer Library and the Library of Congress will be hosting
a year long |
| celebration of the 50th anniversary
of the birth of the digital age with Jack Kilby's Nobel Prize winning
invention of the integrated circuit. These symposia and exhibits
will examine the many ways in which technology and engineers have
shaped our modern world.
