Engineering Master - Executive Programs in Panama

City of Knowledge in Panama and SMU School of Engineering in Dallas have initiated an executive Master’s degree program in three engineering specialties. Participants will have the opportunity to acquire a Master’s degree from a leading American engineering university combined with the convenience of a Central American location. The monthly classes are designed for students currently working in industry who want to gain the skills necessary to move into top management positions. The new program will begin each January or August starting in 2003.

Three Initial Programs

The three programs offered in the executive format are Master’s degrees in telecommunications, information engineering and management, and software engineering.

Executive Masters Format

Classes leading to the degrees will meet one Friday and Saturday a month for two years, with an additional full week of classes during August. Highly experienced SMU School of Engineering faculty members will deliver the ideal blend of classroom instruction and practical knowledge. Case studies and discussion of industry experiences complement the traditional coursework. Subjects include a mix of course projects and laboratory experience, classroom demonstrations and presentations, and discussions of technical programs.

Facilities

City of Knowledge offers students a high technology center with the capacity for teleconferences, distance education, high-speed Internet connections, and other services. Facilties include an integrated videoconference and Distance Education center, virtual classrooms, audio/visual production laboratory, information/virtual library laboratory, and educational support. City of Knowledge is located on the site of the former Fort Clayton military base.
